IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY SITUATION DUE TO WEATHER, THE CLEARWATER TOWNSHIP HALL AT 5440 RIVER ST., RAPID CITY, MI WILL BE OPEN AS AN “EMERGENCY SHELTER”.

Clearwater Township Announcements:
1.  2019 Summer property taxes can be paid to Clearwater Township as of July 1, 2019.  For additional information on the website, see Property Tax Information.

2.  A Public Hearing will be held by the Clearwater Township Zoning Board of Appeals on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 7 PM at the Clearwater Township Community Center, aka Little Red Schoolhouse, 5407 River St., Rapid City, MI, to consider a petition from Mr. Mike Bieniek, AICP, of LCC Telecom Services Agent for Tillman Infrastructure, for a variance to erect a 120′ self-support lattice telecommunications tower in a 100’x100′ lease area, on property located at 5378 Townline Road, Williamsburg, MI, with tax ID# 40004-033-007-15.  There will be time set aside at the hearing for all to voice their opinions.  To be heard, please attend the hearing, have someone attend in your stead, or submit written comments, prior to the meeting, via US mail to PO Box 1, Rapid City, MI 49676 or via email to clerk@clearwatertwp.com.

3.  A Public Hearing will be held by the Clearwater Township Planning Commission at its regularly scheduled meeting on September 9, 2019 at 7 PM at the Clearwater Township Community Center, aka Little Red Schoolhouse, 5407 River St., Rapid City, MI to consider a petition from Greg Hanlin, for a text amendment of Ordinance 22, Zoning Ordinance, for inclusion in either Article IV Section 13, Wireless Communication Towers and Antennas, or Article IV Section 3, Telecommunication Towers are not Essential Services.  The proposed amendment language is as follows:
Spacing – Telecommunication towers and antennas shall be located no closer than one (1) mile from an existing telecommunication tower or alternate tower structure, as measured in a straight line between the base of the existing tower and proposed base of the proposed tower, unless a propagation map can be provided by an independent third party showing the need for additional reception.  Third party propagation research would be hired by the township and paid for by the applicant.

4.  A Public Hearing will be held by the Clearwater Township Planning Commission at its regularly scheduled meeting on September 9, 2019 at 7 PM at the Clearwater Township Community Center, aka Little Red Schoolhouse, 5407 River St., Rapid City, MI to consider a petition from Jason Morrison to rezone his property at 6333 Rapid City Rd, Rapid City, MI 49676, being tax id parcel number 40004-021-014-00, from Residential to Commercial-Light Industry.

5.  Clearwater Township Planning Commission is seeking input regarding the Master Plan 5 year review process.  The public is invited to provide insightful input to this mandatory review process which must be completed by the Fall of 2019.  This will be an on-going agenda topic at the regular meetings of the Planning Commission.  Feedback can be provided in person at these meetings or by reaching out to the Township via mail, phone or email.

6.  Clearwater Township Planning Commission is seeking private property owners whose land abuts the Rapid City abandoned alleyways.  The Commission is forming a subcommittee to explore possible funding through State and/or Federal grants to resolve the legal issues involved in the survey, transfer and documentation of the alleyway properties to the adjacent property owners.  The subcommittee met on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11 AM at the Clearwater Township Community Center (Little Red Schoolhouse), 5407 River Street, Rapid City.  Interested parties can contact the Planning Commission Chair at 231-709-0474.
